To celebrate 50 years of conservation in West Michigan, the Land Conservancy is collaborating with local artists to capture the places we have protected together and support continued conservation for the next 50 years and beyond.
Join us this fall for Preserved! Capturing West Michigan’s Enduring Places. The event will feature the artwork of 15 local artists who have been invited to create works “en plein air” at Land Conservancy-protected parks and preserves. Paintings, sculptures, and more will be available for sale to benefit Land Conservancy’s mission of conserving ecologically critical land. Environmental sustainability is one of Bloom Credit Union’s core values. How does Bloom strive to embody this value?
At Bloom Credit Union, we’ve always focused on doing what’s best for the people in our communities and helping them thrive financially. So, it made sense to help our environment thrive too. Our mission, “Delivering responsible financial services that empower our members and build a more sustainable and resilient future,” guides our daily operations, with sustainability influencing organizational decisions, culture, and community impact.
Through our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, we plant a tree for every new account, resulting in more than 19,190 trees planted across Michigan forests. Our team also actively supports local environmental efforts by volunteering with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and the Land Conservancy of West Michigan. In addition, our Wyoming Free Tree Giveaway event distributed more than 200 trees to community members, generating such strong interest that local arborists were needed to deliver additional trees.
Our sustainability efforts extend to daily operations as well. Increased eStatement adoption, reduced paper mailings, and partnerships with Comprenew and Shred-It have diverted 3,775 pounds of electronics and 3,795 pounds of paper from waste streams. To further advance these efforts, we’ve established a Green Committee that identifies new opportunities to continue elevating our green initiatives.

As a local credit union, we are deeply connected to the communities we serve. Our members are West Michigan families, professionals, and small business owners. What are you most excited about this fall’s Preserved! ?
Our decision to become the presenting sponsor of Preserved! was inspired by both our positive volunteer experiences with the Land Conservancy and our strong connection to the vibrant Creston neighborhood. With a Bloom Credit Union branch located on Plainfield Avenue, we were especially excited to learn that Preserved! would take place at LaFontsee Galleries & Framing, one of our neighbors just down the street. Bringing together conservation, community, and local art, the event reflects values that are important to us.
