This ghostly plant is known as sicklepod (Boechera canadensis). It’s one of the few members of its genus that is easy to identify, thanks to its unique seed pods. The seeds they hold look uncannily like fried eggs, with a papery wrapping that helps the wind carry them away. You can find sicklepod in oak-hickory forests like the one at Brower Lake Nature Preserve.
