P.J. to Pier Hike

May 18, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Celebrate connected natural lands: Hike from P.J. to Pier with the Land Conservancy of West Michigan!

The Land Conservancy of West Michigan is hosting a hike to celebrate 2,000 acres of newly connected Great Lakes dune habitat and public recreational space.

Last fall, the Land Conservancy teamed up with Ottawa County Parks to purchase Ottawa Sands—a beautiful, 345-acre riverfront property that was previously used for sand mining. With the protection of Ottawa Sands, the organizations have created 2,000 acres of contiguous public lands that stretch from P.J. Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon to the Kitchel-Lindquist Dune Preserve, next to the Grand Haven North Pier.

Join us on a hike to experience it all!

The P.J. to Pier hike is a five-mile trek through hilly wooded dunes along the Lake Michigan lakeshore. It will take hikers through five different public natural areas, two of which have been protected by the Land Conservancy in partnership with Ottawa County Parks.

Hikers can expect a moderately challenging, 3-4 hour long walk, with some uneven ground, steep climbs and off-trail hiking. The hike will conclude with a light lunch and refreshments provided by the Land Conservancy, as well as a raffle for a Mountain Khakis gift card and swag!

Please register to let us know you are attending and for details on where to meet!

Please equip yourself with the appropriate footwear, attire, sunscreen and water for this moderately challenging hike.

This event will take place rain or shine, but it will be cancelled the event of thunderstorms or severe weather.
