This incredible crew showed up in frigid temperatures and deep snow to add six acres of native prairie and oak savanna habitat at Wege Foundation Natural Area in Lowell. Now that's what we call commitment to conservation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at this month's Second Saturday Workday. Your efforts will germinate healthier habitat—an enduring impact you'll be able to come back to this place and see in the years to come.

In the meantime, our next Second Saturday Workday will take place at Lamberton Lake Fen Nature Preserve in Grand Rapids on January 10, 2026. We hope to see you there! Learn more at naturenearby.org/events.

The new year rapidly approaches, and this one is going to be special. In 2026, the Land Conservancy of West Michigan will celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Join us to kick off a year of celebration at a New Year's Day Hike at Tallmadge Woods in Saugatuck.

Former Land Protection Director April Scholtz will lead us on the hike along the Tallmadge Woods trail as we enjoy views of the Kalamazoo River and Saugatuck Harbor Natural Area, and reflect on fifty years of working together to keep nature nearby.

Tallmadge Woods is owned and managed by Ox-Bow School of Art and protected in perpetuity by the Land Conservancy of West Michigan. The permanent protection and ongoing care of the land are a testament to the relationships that make conservation possible. Learn more about the event and register to attend on our website.
