Ever since Chuck and Pat Bloom inherited Chuck's father's 160-acre property in Newaygo County, they have been committed to ensuring it remains a place their family can experience the rejuvenating effects of time in nature. They protected the land with a conservation easement in 2008.

"[We thought], ‘Gee, this land is very dear to us, and it’s always been natural. It would really be nice to protect this forever.’ We talked it over with our kids before we entered into the agreement to see if they were on board, and they all were, totally,” Chuck said.
