Black Friday Prairie Planting & Celebration

November 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Free

The prairie at Saul Lake Bog owes its existence to the hard work of volunteers over many years. It is one of the largest and longest running prairie restoration projects in the state of Michigan. This Black Friday, we will plant the final remaining acres of the Saul Lake Prairie, bringing a 25-year restoration project to completion.

Please join us this Black Friday for planting and a party as we sow seeds to expand the prairie and enjoy refreshments to celebrate the completion of this project!

We are so grateful for every volunteer who has collected, planted, and burned with LCWM on this preserve. We know many of our volunteers have close ties and special memories of this place – please come ready to celebrate, remember, and share stories of the prairie.

The event will happen rain or shine – please come dressed for the weather. Tools, water, and work gloves will be provided.

There is a gravel parking lot at Saul Lake Bog. We will gather in the lot near the preserve signage at 10:00am, and will hike into the preserve together. The celebration will follow in the parking lot once the planting has finished.
