Join the Land Conservancy of West Michigan as we work to finish the new boardwalk at McDuffee Creek Nature Preserve.
We will meet at the 14 Mile Road entrance to the nature preserve. To get there: take 14 Mile Road until you see LCWM signs and a gate on the north side of the road. Enter the preserve through the gate, and follow the two track until you reach the parking area. If the weather is rainy, we may leave the gate locked as the two track gets muddy. If this is the case, please park along the sides of 14 Mile Road and hike in until you reach the meeting location. We will communicate final parking and meeting instructions via email the day prior to the event.
This event will happen rain or shine – please come dressed for the weather. Tools, water, and snacks will be provided! Please wear boots and bring your own work gloves.
The Land Conservancy’s 20 nature preserves contain an incredible diversity of natural features including prairies, forests, and wetlands that are great places to explore. However, invasive species and altered natural processes threaten to degrade the ecological quality of many of our preserves. Active management is often needed to ensure the long-term sustainability of these wonderful natural areas, and we need your help.
Fortunately, through our Second Saturdays event series, there are now plenty of opportunities to get involved!
From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month, the Land Conservancy will host a volunteer event that focuses on ecological restoration activities including invasive species removal, seed collecting, and native plant installation. Volunteers may also be involved with trail maintenance, general clean-up, or other tasks that help visitors better enjoy our magnificent natural areas.
