Fall is a wonderful time to look for fungi in the forest! Join us on an excursion to find and learn about the mushrooms of West Michigan at Flower Creek Dunes Nature Preserve.

LCWM Stewardship Manager Lucas Dykstra will lead us as we search for mushrooms, learn how to identify different types, and discuss mushroom anatomy and terminology. This event is for beginners and anyone who wants a refresher on the basics.

This outing may involve hiking along sandy and occasionally steep trails, and will take place rain or shine – please come dressed for the weather and activity! Though not required, we encourage attendees who are able to bring flashlights and loupes or magnifying glasses.

Parking for the preserve is available in the paved Meinert Park lot. We will gather on the northern end of the parking lot and will hike into the preserve together.
