The 2025 State of the Birds report shows bird populations continue to be in decline, but as our friend Spencer High, president of the @grandrapidsaudubonclub, says in this @wzzm13 article: it's not too late to take meaningful action.

One way you can act is by volunteering to help protect and care for bird habitat. Join us for one of our Second Saturday Workdays to help care for nature preserves across West Michigan! Another great way to get started is to learn about birds. We have two fun events about birds coming up:

🐦 Slow Birding, Ottawa Sands County Park, Sunday, April 27, 2-4 p.m. | Join LCWM and Alex Field to practice a birding style called “slow birding.” We will take our time on the trail, moving slow and letting the birds come to us.

🪶 Creating a Forest for Birds, Wege Foundation Natural Area, Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. | Join LCWM and American Bird Conservancy to learn how LCWM’s restoration work, with the support of the Michigan DNR’s Wildlife Habitat Grant Program, is creating a better forest for birds.
