Land Conservancy once again partners with local artists for Preserved!

Preserved! is back! We are excited to announce the launch of the third edition of this collaboration with local artists to capture the beauty of the West Michigan natural areas we protect.

This year, we are working with 16 artists with ties to our West Michigan service area. Using diverse approaches, these painters, photographers, ceramicists and fiber artists will craft pieces capturing the vibrant natural surroundings found in the Land Conservancy’s protected lands.

Participating artists include: Justin Kellner, Kathleen Kalinowski, Randi Ford, Teresa O’Brien, Anne Corlett, Sally Jenks, Kathy Mohl, Thomas Hegewald, Cayla Tinney, Yolanda Gonzalez, Jean Allemeier Boot, Michael Pfleghaar, Susan M. Rose, Shilin Hora, Jane Everhart and youth ambassador Ellie Iorio.

Throughout the year, these artists will seek inspiration from the shady forests, towering Lake Michigan dunes, expansive prairies and mighty rivers that define West Michigan’s one-of-a-kind landscape as they spend time creating artwork en plein air on Land Conservancy protected preserves, community conservation projects and conservation agreement properties.

The final pieces will showcase the magic that the Land Conservancy protects and tell the story of why land conservation is so important. The program will culminate with two gallery exhibits of the completed works in October:

Frauenthal Center Reception Gallery, Muskegon, MI

  • October 3-8
  • Opening Reception*: Thursday, October 3, 5-8 p.m.

LaFontsee Galleries, Grand Rapids, MI

  • October 17-19
  • Opening Reception*: Thursday, October 17, 5-8 p.m.

*Tickets for the opening receptions will be available for purchase on our website later this year.

  • I am sorry I didn’t hear about this sooner. I am a west Michigan artist and long time Nature Conservancy member. I have painted en plein air at multiple NC sites in MI. Please tell me how I can be involved in the future.

    Thanks
