DESCRIPTION:Join the Land Conservancy of West Michigan at McDuffee Creek Nature Preserve to remove invasive shrubs and trees as we work to restore healthier conditions to this important habitat. \nThis event will happen rain or shine – please come dressed for the weather. Tools\, water\, and snacks will be provided. Please wear boots and bring your own work gloves. \nWe will meet at the south entrance to the nature preserve\, off 14 Mile Road. To access this entrance\, take 14 Mile Road until you see LCWM signs and a gate on the north side of the road. If the gate is open\, enter the preserve through the gate and follow the two tracks until you reach the parking area. If the weather has been rainy\, we may leave the gate closed due to muddy road conditions. If this is the case\, parallel park along the sides of 14 Mile Road and hike in until you reach the meeting location. \nRegister to Attend

DESCRIPTION:Join the Land Conservancy of West Michigan as we plant trees at Flower Creek Dunes! \nThis event will happen rain or shine – please come dressed for the weather and wear quality shoes/boots. Tools\, water\, work gloves\, and snacks will be provided. \nParking is available at Meinert Park\, located at the west end of Meinert Park Road in Montague. There are restrooms available seasonally in the Meinert Park parking lot.   \nParking is available at Meinert Park\, located at the west end of Meinert Park Road in Montague. Please park in the northernmost section of the parking lot. We will gather in the parking lot and will hike into the preserve together. \nRegister to Attend \n  \n\nAbout Second Saturday Events\nThe Land Conservancy’s 20 nature preserves contain an incredible diversity of natural features including prairies\, forests\, and wetlands that are great places to explore. However\, invasive species and altered natural processes threaten to degrade the ecological quality of many of our preserves. Active management is often needed to ensure the long-term sustainability of these wonderful natural areas\, and we need your help. \nFortunately\, through our Second Saturdays event series\, there are now plenty of opportunities to get involved! \nFrom 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month\, the Land Conservancy will host a volunteer event that focuses on ecological restoration activities including invasive species removal\, seed collecting\, and native plant installation. Volunteers may also be involved with trail maintenance\, general clean-up\, or other tasks that help visitors better enjoy our magnificent natural areas.
