Muskegon County Meinert Park doubles in size

Thanks to the effective partnership between Muskegon County, the Dekker and Rottman families, the Land Conservancy, and generous donors 95-acres of undeveloped natural habitat has been permanently protected and added to Meinert County Park. This addition more than doubles the park’s size.

As past field trip participants can attest, the property offers scenic and challenging hiking through the forested dune ridges and valleys. On the high ridges you can view Lake Michigan to the west and forests to the east. Wetlands and a pond at the base of the wooded dunes create habitat diversity and attract ducks, herons, kingfishers and other wildlife.
